Digital: U.S. Embassy recruits an IT Administrator in Yaoundé, earning over CFAF 13.5 million per year

[DIGITAL Business Africa] – The United States Embassy in Cameroon is strengthening its digital teams. In a recruitment notice published on May 28, 2026, the U.S. diplomatic mission in Yaoundé issued a call for applications for the Information Technology (IT) Administrator position within its Diplomatic Technology Office (DTO).

Open to all interested applicants, this recruitment highlights the growing importance attached to digital skills and cybersecurity in the operation of modern diplomatic missions.

The future IT Administrator will join the team responsible for technology engagement and support at the Embassy. According to the job announcement, the successful candidate will be responsible for administering information systems to ensure their confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The position includes Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support, systems analysis, configuration management, operation of IT infrastructures across the Embassy, and participation in the technological initiatives of the U.S. diplomatic mission.

Cybersecurity also occupies a key place among the responsibilities assigned to the future employee. The selected candidate will contribute to network security measures, conduct compliance audits, and educate users on information security best practices.

A profile focused on infrastructure and cloud technologies

To be eligible for the position, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or Audio/Visual Communications and Technology. The Embassy also requires at least two years’ experience in network operations, systems administration, or digital infrastructure management.

The desired skills cover a broad range of technologies, including systems administration, IT equipment management, networking, software solutions, cloud services, and information systems design. Proficiency in modern productivity suites such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and OpenOffice is also required.

From a language perspective, fluency in English is mandatory, while a good working knowledge of French is also required. These language skills may be tested during the recruitment process.

More than CFAF 13.5 million per year

The position is based in Yaoundé and is a permanent full-time role requiring 40 hours of work per week. The announced annual gross salary amounts to CFAF 13,507,338. This package includes the basic salary, various allowances, and an end-of-year bonus equivalent to one-twelfth of the annual basic salary.

Employees also benefit from social advantages, including annual leave, sick leave, maternity leave, medical coverage under the Embassy’s internal rules, and approximately 19 U.S. and Cameroonian public holidays per year. More information here.
