Minette Libom Li Likeng: “Cameroon is establishing CAMSPACE, a space programme”

[ICT Media STRATEGIES] – The Cameroonian government, the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) and the Telecommunications Regulatory Board have organized the DIGITAL WEEK CAMEROON 2023. The event took place in Yaoundé from October 16 to 20, 2023. The event aims to bring together members from across the Commonwealth and stakeholders in the ICT and Energy industries.

The opening ceremony of the event was chaired by the Prime Minister Chief of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion NGUTE. Also present, is the minister of Post and Telecommunications.

During her address, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng, indicated that digital technologies play a crucial role in the transformation of Cameroonian public services and governance.

According to her, technological advancements have enabled more effective management of public affairs, promotion of greater efficiency and simplification of access to government services. We also learned from the minister that Internet penetration in Cameroon is estimated at 40%.

“Cameroon is also establishing a space programme, CAMSPACE, which is aimed at consolidating our country’s ambitions in core areas of satellite communications”, added the minister.
